Theme:
Faith
Title:
Be Taught by Tribulations so you can teach others.
Desired Outcome:
The outcome of the topic back2basics is for us as uGroup Leaders to take a moment and step back into the basics when nothing seems to be going right.
We need to be open to our members, just by showing them that we are Human as well.
The Basics is to teach our members how to worship God with faith in tribulations, how to seek him, how to praise him. How to Pray the heart of God and not the fleshy prayer of distractions. How do we call on his name.
The "Back2Basics" Topic is very Diverse, and can definitely branch off into different directions.
Core Scriptures:
Romans 5:1-5
Hebrews 11:6
Welcome:
Any fun and welcoming Icebreaker that gets the members moving, on their feet, where all the members can participate in. If there are new members be careful not to create a space where they feel exposed or uncomfortable.
Word:
Ask your people:
- What is tribulations?
Explain what tribulation is and how it is a benefit to go through tribulation. - What is righteousness?
Again let the discussion happen between your members as to what is righteousness. Then share your understanding of righteousness. - Why do they sometimes feel unrighteous when they are in tribulations, but yet they still have hope it will become better?
Open Romans 5:1-5 up to them.
Romans tells us to rejoice in the glory of God when we are in tribulations - What is it to have Faith?
Let faith mix in with the current questions that you are busy discussing.
Show your people the scripture from Hebrews 11:6
Explain:
Encourage them to not feel bad when they are in tribulations. If they feel condemned instead of convicted then its the devil trying to burden us, while God is trying to teach and strengthen us.
The Bible tells us that faith pleases God. So its our faith in the tribulation that makes us righteous before God.
Consider Sharing Testimonies with your people about how you have overcome tribulations and turned out much more stronger in the end. You gained understanding and knowledge to take on the next battle because of the basics that the bible teaches us.
What are our weapons for tribulations?
Prayer, fasting, praise and singing, speaking with mentors, surrounding your self with strong leadership, reading the scriptures, books that are applicable to the season that you are in and above all putting yourself in the secret place.
Encourage your people to have faith in God and not doubt him. Its the size of a mustard seed that can rearrange landscapes. They build their faith by stepping out and doing things that require faith.
